When budgets get tight, the least in our society are the first to take the hit. This inequality is no more pronounced than in our public schools, where children from disadvantaged backgrounds often lack the basic supplies to make learning happen. But YOU can make a difference, maybe even change a life, simply by giving to one of the many worthy projects at DonorsChoose.
DonorsChoose is one of the most effective, on-the-ground charities I’ve ever witnessed in action. You make donations for projects that you deem *deserving*, the materials get delivered directly to the classroom, and you get to see the results. No bureaucracy, no elections, no political infighting. It’s just you and the students. You give, kids learn.
And just in case you don’t have time to search through the hundreds (thousands?) of worthy projects on their site, I’ve made it even easier. Simply visit my DonorsChoose giving page and give to one of my pre-selected projects, all of which are intended to make science more hands-on and accessible in high-poverty classrooms. Don’t like what I’ve picked? Then navigate to the DonorsChoose site and find a project close to own heart to support.
It’s up to you, and it doesn’t take much to make a difference. So get your butts (and wallets) on over to DonorsChoose, and start giving!
